STORY-LED PLAY

Some stories don’t just get read once. They get carried from room to room. They get requested night after night.
They become part of the rhythm of your days.
A stroller walk through an extension in our neighborhood led us to find real life construction machinery, and Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site quickly became a favorite in our home. I found it to be the perfect inspiration behind this Story-Led Play pack.

Why Story-Led Play?
Story-led play begins with a book your child already loves and gently extends it into hands-on play. There’s no checklist, no expected outcome, and no “right” way to engage.

Why Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site?
This book is a perfect invitation into meaningful play.
It’s about:
• Movement and rest
• Fast and slow
• Big machines with gentle endings
• The comfort of routine
For toddlers especially, these themes are deeply regulating. They mirror the rhythms children experience in their own bodies such as energy, effort, and rest.
What’s Inside This Play Pack

How We Use This Pack at Home
Sometimes we use it right after reading the story. Sometimes the activity cards come out after breakfast. Sometimes my toddler plays with the construction parking mat while I nurse the baby. Sometimes it’s a precursor to the bedtime wind-down.
Repetition is welcome. Revisiting is encouraged.
What Your Child Is Learning (Without Knowing It)
When learning unfolds through play, it often looks simple, but it’s deeply meaningful.
Through this pack, children are naturally developing:
• Language and early literacy
• Fine motor coordination
• Problem-solving and sequencing
• Imaginative and symbolic play
A Final Note
When we give children thoughtful materials, meaningful stories, and our presence, learning follows.
Thank you so much for being here; supporting this work truly means more than I can say.
